$75K presidential gift to fund computer training lab

A $75,000 grant from the Wayne State University Office of the President will allow TechTown to create a computer lab in TechOne, its business incubator facility. Former President Irvin D. Reid made the gift in August before leaving office after 10 years.

Pixel It Productions

Lori Autrey, executive director of Pixel It Productions, has news for her fellow Detroiters: Michigan has 84,000 job vacancies* that are going unfilled because people lack the necessary skills. In response, the computer software application training company is offering “Pink Slip Productions” -- half-price classes for anyone who has been laid off in the past year and signs up at a special event on Friday, September 19. Classes that normally cost $199 will be offered for just $99 for those who enroll in person that day and show proof that they were laid off in the past year.
