This year the Detroit Board of Directors and I met for an entire weekend in Southfield to plan the Chapter's Objectives and Goals. One common theme that reigned throughout the retreat is that we must understand our current members and be able to deliver an answer to the infamous question "What can BDPA do for me?"

We believe our 2008 Objectives will help us respond to our members concerns. Below is a list of objectives we feel will help us deliver an answer to your question:

Deliver Programs and Professional Development courses to build and strengthen our members' proficiency and effective application of Information Technology. We are currently working on providing Project Management Professional (PMP) Test Preparation courses.

Provide timely consistent communication of Chapter Events. Information Exchange / Program meetings occur bi-monthly, beginning in February, on every 3rd Thursday at Tech Town from 6-8 PM.

Provide a new look and feel to our Chapter's website. Please take a look at the website!

Increase the number of Detroit Member Conference Participants. This year, the conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia August 6 - 9, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Peach Tree. For more details, visit

Host an Awards Banquet to acknowledge contributions of our members, supporting and sponsoring corporations, recognize community volunteers, our HSCC Team, and to raise funds to support Chapter objectives.

Distribute quarterly emails to members to inform, and gain feedback on how we can improve the Chapter. We need to hear your voice, thoughts, and concerns!

While there is a great deal to be desired, we believe the above goals, will allow us to meet the needs of our members and take the Chapter to a level never seen before. As a Board, we are committed to serving you and as a member of this great organization, we need your support and time! Please take the time to get involved today!

Change and competition in a global market is inevitable in the technology profession. We must continue to learn and stay on the leading edge of technology. By remaining an active member, you will have access to the best in class benefits and resources that will support your career "from the classroom to the boardroom".
